Bishop's Wood Members
David and I came to Bishop’s Wood in 1980, and after 35 years moved to Brewood. Our three daughters all attended our first-rate local state schools and we are now proud grandparents to seven, with whom we spend time whenever we can. Since retiring from a management position in teaching, I can devote more time to voluntary work at the Independent Monitoring Board of Stafford Prison, being a School Governor at Bishop’s Wood First School, Wolgarston High School and recently at the newly-formed Penk Federation. I relax by reading and taking long walks in the countryside.
My name is Mary Rachael Sambrook. Three years ago I returned to live in Bishop’s Wood where I grew up. I am married to Terry and have three grown up children. I became a Brewood and Coven Parish Councillor for Bishop’s Wood in 2015 and balance this with working. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, working on our allotment and walking my dogs.
My full name is John David Conrad Evans but known as David or Dave. I was born and bred in the village and people have said that if you cut off the top of my head and feet there would be Brewood written through and through. However my career in hospitality took me to London, Broadway and Birmingham in this country but also to France, United States and Canada all of which I was an immigrant. I returned to Brewood to spend 30 years in hospitality education mostly at Stafford College but also Wolverhampton, Cannock and Dudley Colleges. I am still working, travelling the country as a licensing law expert, training potential personal licence holders. I also ran a successful restaurant in Brewood for a number of years on a part-time basis. This is my second time on the council and I am the latest in a long line of public servants in my family, my mother was clerk to this council, my maternal grandmother was deputy mayor of Durham city, dad served on Brewood Parish Council, my sister is a past leader of Rother Council and other sister was on Bosbury Parish Council along with brother in law. Familywise I have 3 daughters and 10 grandchildren living in Brewood, London and France.
I moved to Brewood with my husband and two daughters in 1986 and have lived at my present address since 1989. I was elected to the Parish Council in 1991 and have been made Chairman on two occasions.
